Reflection 2
Some time ago, I met girl who recommend me book from category that is called "young adult" and generally for teens. Its title is "A Court of Thorns and Roses". My friend was exited by the fantasy plot and beautiful characters. Personally, I am into more serious literature, where is no fantasy or typical teenage drama, so from the beggining I wasn't interested. By when the time passed, I realized that only 2 or 3 years ago, my favourite book was in the same category. So, from the sentiment, I decided to make a little experiment. Let's read this book and see why is it so popular (to make situation more clear, the book that was recommended by my friend is very popular and recognizable among young people).
I bought this book on my phone and i read it in Mazury, where there was no internet. Despite the fact that I was in there for 2 weeks, I read the book in 3 days. It has a lot pages and I don't like reading on my phone, but I think it was worth it. Why?
Personally, I hate gadgets like Kindle (I know this saves a lot of space and it can be very handy), but it takes pleasure of reading- for example feeling paper when you turn the page or even holding book in your hands. It is much better than holding a gadget. It cost me a lot of screen time and crying(my eyes were watering, cause I am wearing glasses so I can't spend to much time on computer or phone.
I don't say that this book change my literature's preferences but this experiment showed that I also enjoy other kind of stories. It also made me feel a little sentimental- it was nice to "go back in time" and sit with a story that I enjoy when I was younger.
Of course, this topic is much bigger for me and I'd like to talk about much more, but I think that this is enough to make you reflect...
It's refreshing to come back to our childhood stories. Usually we do this when we have kids and read books to them or with them. I don't think I would have read Harry Potter if I hadn't had a child at the right time.
