People with depression can sometimes experience memory problems

Depression is a mental illness which we often connect with being sad, tired and feeling of hopelessness. But it's not only about low mood that most of the ill people feel. Sometimes, they might be forgetful, they might have problem with short-term memory. We don't hear it as major symptom, it is often don't describe as something linked with this illness. There are cognitiv impairments, which are pretty common. Depression can affect response time, planning, desicion-making and reasoning. Ill people lose control over stress response system. If we have depression, our brain has to work harder on remembering things. But there is something that helps people with depession. It's special therapy that involves systematic review and future perspective. It benefits working memory(non verbal learning), processing speed and paying attention. Talking thrapies are also helpful, same as antidepressants. It's importants to start seeing problem with memory as a depression symptom- then, it can be cured properly.

I think, that is obvious but overlooked problem. Three in five people with depression have this issue and do nothing about it. It can affect our everyday life. Depression is serious illness which can lead to death- so we should do anything to find a solution that can help with this illness.
