Modeling
Nowadays, modeling is a job. We see they in our everyday life- on billboards, ads or posters.
Charles Frederick Worth was the first designer who use model to show his new project. His wife, Marie, was the one of the first model. Lady Duff Gordon was the first person who did a whole show full of mannequin- models that struck dramatic poses and never spoke.
Fashion illustrations in magazines were posed by actresses. In the 1960s, catwalk models and photomodel separated, creating the independent career path. At the same time, catwalk models can dance and act on the runway- it was a big development.
But they ere poorly paid- it wasn't affortable job, until 1990s, when famous supermodels became new celbrities. Youth followed their favourite models, fashion became more available and a lot of people were into this.
Today, becaming model is difficult but not impossible. The main thing is height and measurements. Girls should be higher than 173 cm and boys 182cm. Female fashion is about propotions too, so hips should be about 95cm, waist 61cm, chest 75cm. Boys should be well built.
Very important thing is personality too. Models work with a lot of people, so confidence and kindness are relevant.

If you're over 173 cm tall and have the other measurements you list (waist, hips, etc.) it's obvious that they must be seriously underweight.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that most of models are underweight- but it is the price that they must pay before going into modeling industry.
