Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana owners are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. They're both Italian. Domenico was born in Sicily and Gabbana in Milan. Their nationality influenced their clothes- fashion designers are known as the inventors of Mediterranean style.

In 1986, they created their first collection, called "Real Women". Two years later, D&G produced beachwear and lingerines lines. In the 1990, designers created first collection for men. All of this collections were produced by Ittierre - famous buisness, which were working with luxurious brands, like Versace.

Back to the Mediterranean style. It characterised by playful, floral prints, elegant details and airy, stylish materials, for example silk, wool and croched lace. It also connects with film from 1963, called "The Leopard" and women in Italian realism (movement in art amongst poor and working class, which was presented people's problems in everyday life after World War II). Designers links sensual and austere elements with chic and colorful clothes.

Also , there is a type of woman who represtents this brand. She is unbiased, but fearful of God, it connects with Italian Catholicism. D&G prefer models with dark eyes, hair and skin tone, round faces and soft type of beauty. Of course, it depends of the type of show or catwalk, but we are more likely to see models with Mediterranean beauty.

  1. Careful with the spelling! It's CROCHET lace (from French).
A CROTCH is something altogether different and the mistake can be costly!
